Stuart Grauer, Ed.D., is the Founding Head of School Emeritus of The Grauer School (founded 1991 in Encinitas, California) and is considered one of the nation’s top authorities on small schools and expeditionary education. He founded the Small Schools Coalition in 2011 in support of small school leaders looking for evidence that their schools are more by virtue of their size, not less. Outside Magazine named The Grauer School one of the top ten places to work in the United States. He publishes and consults widely and his work has been covered in New York Times, Discovery Channel, Phi Delta Kappan, and many other publications.
In his hometown of Encinitas, CA, where he has been named “Peacemaker of the Year” and “Local Legend.”
